Malak Kalmoni Chehab is a survivor of two Civil Wars, Ghana and Lebanon, also Canadian. The survivor of being transplanted into three different continents as a child, witnessing violence, racism, segregation, defamation, inequality, injustice, and more. Her experiences shaped her into a strong mother, protector who again went through upheavals of war that shaped her opinions, now have an outlet in her writings and poetry. She hopes to share her experiences in order to connect and alleviate the stresses of immigration, as well as to create a window into the lives of post-colonial immigrants. She’s published her poetry book, Perfectly Flawed (it was on the finalist list for the Canadian Book Club Awards 2023), and Romancing Time, a letter (and other poems), in The Unsealed, an online magazine. Poem ‘Oh Woman’ has been published in Gival press: ArLiJo #187, ‘My Powers’ published in Unseal Your Greatness, ‘Worthy of Respect’ published in Unseal your Worth, 3: Resistence by Pen, Bright Darkness, and End were published in April; and 3 more in June in Our Poetry Archive Blogs, and 4 poems in Alien Buddha Press. Wish for Peace was published in Petal Projections issue 9. She was also a verified reader for the Canadian Book Club awards and Writers Union of Canada.
