Adrianna Herrera Amparan (adriannaherrera)

I write because I am bored and also because the thoughts that I think or the experiences that I have lived have their own desire to be expressed: They're not dead. Sometimes I enjoy writing, sometimes I don't. I wasn't taught how to write in an MFA program. My highest level of education is one semester of graduate school in the Spanish department at UNM, after which I dropped out. I then took a couple of introductory poetry classes. Several years later, I attended a memoir writing workshop with Chicana author Ana Castillo, who produces the e-zine La Tolteca where a few of my poems have appeared, the first one dating from the Winter 2011 issue. My poetry has also appeared in Nahuatlliandoing Dos, PALABRA, phati'tude, and UNM Conceptions Southwest. I recently began writing creative non-fiction and have submitted a few stories for review. Sometimes I wonder what it is that I am doing in places such as this, but I try either because I have guts or am naive. Thanks, Adrianna
