My experiences as a professional woman and divorced single mother inspire my writing, although my stories are not autobiographical. Since 2000, I have worked full-time as an editor, researcher, and consultant in the health care sector. I am proud to be an annual featured lecturer at the Yale School of Medicine, where I will deliver my twelfth talk this coming February. I have an M.F.A. from American University and taught freshman composition there for four years before transitioning to my current career. In 2013, I began writing again in earnest, using plane trips, hotel stays, and whatever other found time I had available to create and edit my work. Since then, I have been invited to read from my short story collection at a local “Evening of the Spoken Word†and been named a finalist in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers.
