Athena Sofides is a scientist and poet whose poems emerge spontaneously and infrequently from an “urge to write,†exploring emotional landscapes in free verse. These affective topologies explore and reckon with femininity, contradiction, time, "the natural," and euphoria. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Athena spends her days studying environmental health at Smith College, tending to her cat named after a Greek cheese, and not knowing how to drive.
