I studied language development in graduate school, and I was always fascinated by this unique human ability. Much later in life, when I was stricken with Lou Gehrig’s disease, my ability to speak was taken away by this disease. That’s when I started reading and writing poetry. I found poetry had a special capability to express my innermost feelings. By losing my physical voice, I found my poetic voice. I have two peer reviewed published poems, and I am studying poetry in the online class at the writerstudio.com.
