In the summer of 2015 I attended two writing workshops. I worked with Nancy Zafris at the Kenyon Writers's Workshop, and I worked with Maaza Mengiste at the Disquiet workshop in Portugal. These two workshops re-awakened me as a writer. I am an English teacher and football coach, two positions that suck writing time away from me. Of late, I have been eager to fight for some of that time back.
I have considered myself a novelist (or one trying to be a novelist), but I've written some poems and essays along the way. I had a short story, “Fire Built,†published by Danforth Review, an on-line magazine.
I have been married for twenty-two years to Cathy Hamm, and I have three daughters and a son.
