I am a 68 year old Viet Nam vet and former Rare Books librarian. I tend to write in the very short style of my masters Borges, Kafka and Barthelme. I consider reality to be extremely overrated and not all that interesting to boot. I feel that fiction should always be about opening up more avenues and asking more questions than closing and answering them. I do not hold out hope, I tell stories. "Writerly" fiction that is all about announcing the writers' huge vocabulary tends to make me sleepy, and since I am a life-long insomniac, I am thankful that they exist. I am not the product of any writing courses, workshops or any other attempt to enlist me in a particular school or canon. . I have lived, read and written about what interests me, that's all.
