Derek Brooks was born in LA, and raised in Ukraine, and subsequently throughout Europe by expats. He is director of Art Catalogues, an art bookstore and archive in LA. Art Catalogues has organized archive exhibitions at Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, and Marian Goodman, and Derek has recently participated in talks at the USC English department with authors like Stephanie LaCava and Sean Thor Conroe, has read his fiction at several readings, including Casual Encounters alongside Chris Kraus, and has had conceptual writings shown alongside Lucy McKenzie and Edouard Levé.
