Fausto Avendaño is a writer and a university professor of languages and literatures. He has published short stories, novels and a play. He is a member of Escritores del Nuevo Sol, a writers group in Sacramento, CA. He shares his poetry in poetry readings and has published some poetry. Most of his writing, however, is in prose (short stories and novels),although he has always written poetry. He is writing more poetry now as well as prose. For many years he was director of a university journal of hispanic literatures, Explicación de textos literarios. He has two major literary prizes to his credit. His short stories have appeared in American and Latin American literary journals.
