Gretchen started writing poetry for the same reason one removes an eyelash after it slips into a naked eyeball. The process of penning verse enables her to rid her brain of something that has burrowed inside, demanding to be extricated. She enjoys reading poetry because it exposes her to nuggets lovingly and laboriously mined by others who also have restless, ticklish minds.
