James Patterson was born on a cattle and grain farm in rural Manitoba, Canada. He has worked as a farm laborer, factory worker and writer. His fiction has been longlisted for the CBC Short Story Contest and his essays can be found in World Literature Today, Overland Magazine, and Wanderlust Journal among others.
