My short fiction has appeared in a dozen commercial and literary magazines and has twice earned Pushcart Prize nominations. I was recipient of a Fiction Writing Fellowship at the University of Montana, where I completed my MFA.
My first novel, FIRST, YOU SWALLOW THE MOON, has been accepted for publication by Battered Suitcase Press. The novel is about bears. And love. And a broken journey between the two. It is set for a spring 2013 release.
I've taught fiction writing at The University of Montana, the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and at regional community arts programs. My primary focus is creative writing workshops for young writers.
I live in White Bear Lake, Minnesota with my wife and our well loved assembly of dogs, cats (and yard of squirrels).
