Maria E. Scott (mariaescott)

A retired teacher with a passion for writing! I have taught in all models of second language learning: Spanish immersion to English speaking students, two-way bilingual, Spanish as a second language and also basic bilingual programs. I taught in San Francisco where the landmark case Lau v. Board of Education was tried by the Chinese community. I love writing poetry both in English and Spanish! I learned English when I was adopted at the age of 10 or 11 years old. I have one of the first letters that I wrote to my brother who stayed back in Mexico. It is written in Spanish. I was amazed that he had saved it all of these years. Before he died he gave it to me. It is one of my many writing treasures! I am a member of Wednesday Writer's held at Woodland Pattern in Milwaukee, WI I currently live in the Bay View area of Milwaukee with my husband Bob, son Nick and two dogs named "Kimmy" (Kimberly) and "Mack."
