M. R. Baird has always been bound to the ocean – at first, in San Francisco. Now she shares her time between the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, MA and Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a writer, artist and poet whose work appears in numerous publications including Poetry Scotland, DeLuge Journal and Cape Cod Poetry Review, as well as in experimental film and multimedia installations. Involved in the current eco-tone poetic dialog, Baird describes being raised in San Francisco on the pabulum of the west coast literary and art renaissance. Very much a part of the “wide-open†poetry movement started by Ferlinghetti, offering up poems as a language of shared experience, her poems are intentionally accessible and often visual, unfolding stories through descriptive imagery. M. R. Baird currently has two books in print – “Uplands,†and “Valentines and other Tragedies,†published by Plum Press.
