Sixfold

Natalie McLain (petrichor)

I am a macaroni and cheese connoisseur, reformed marathoner-turned-potato, and generally quirky Tinder date from the Midwest. When financial markets crashed a decade ago, I left a desk jockey position for the strip club, which is often the topic of writing I consider deeply personal. A year ago, I put my clothes back on and started managing a string of racehorses, getting hay stuck in my bra, and waking up with the sun instead of passing out after an IHOP binge at 8am. I happen to have a degree in Biology from Iowa State University, but mostly I just loved looking for mushrooms and keeping flesh-eating beetles for experiments for the 12.5 years I spent in college. Sixfold is my first submission to a poetry contest.
