Robert Clinton was born and raised in upstate New York. He attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, and has an MFA in creative writing from Goddard College (Plainfield, Vermont). He has twice been a Fellow at the MacDowell Colony. Sarabande Books published his book of poems, Taking Eden. His second book of poems, Wasteland Honey, was published by Circling Rivers Press (Richmond, Virginia) in November of 2021. He was awarded the 2022 Yeats Poetry Prize by the W. B. Yeats Society of NY. His poems have been published by Wisconsin Review, Antioch Review, The Atlantic, Ploughshares, Stand, Hanging Loose and Shenandoah, among others.
