Hi. I'm a writer and I help others write. Excited to send my attached story, Lessons on How to be a Woman, to Sixfold. Excited to read other stories and comment.
I've written two novels, one published by St. Martin's Press, and the other by New York Review Books which the ALA selected as an Honor Title and was included in the Wall Street Journal's list of best fiction of the year. A short story that was published last year in the Michigan Quarterly Review (Kill Fonzie) was recently awarded the Lawrence Foundation Prize. This story, Lessons on How to be a Woman, happens in Jerusalem where I lived for ten years. It's a place, I find, where outrageous stories get handed to you, and then you have to tone them down to make them believable.
